HOW TO HELP OUR CHILDREN OVERCOME FEAR & FAILURE

WHAT DO YOU TEACH YOUR KIDS ABOUT FAILURE? HOW DO YOU RESPOND WHEN THEY FAIL? WHEN THEY FAIL, NOT IF THEY FAIL.

I WANT MY CHILDREN TO KNOW THAT WHEN THEY FAIL, I WILL FORGIVE THEM, I WILL NOT REJECT THEM, AND I WILL HELP THEM RECOVER.

WHILE AS PARENTS WE CHALLENGE OUR CHILDREN TO LIVE HIGH STANDARDS, IT MUST BE BALANCED WITH THE EXPLICIT UNDERSTANDING THAT WHEN THEY FAIL, ALL IS NOT LOST. AFTER ALL, WE’VE ALL BEEN THERE TOO. NONE OF US ARE PERFECT, SO WHY SHOULD WE BE SHOCKED WHEN OUR CHILDREN FALL?

I am a firm believer in the fact that there is no such thing as failure, only an opportunity to do better next time. This is something that I have done everything possible to instill in my children since they were in the womb. Even with my best efforts we have still run into times when our children have had a fear of failure. I know this is something that most children experience, and it is our job as parents to help them overcome this fear.
Many times that is easier said than done. Let's face it, there isn't a person in the world that sets out to accomplish something and throws a party when things don't goes as they wanted or planned. For children though, the very thought of not being able to succeed is enough to stop them from trying at all. So how then, as a parent, do you help them break free of their fear and take a risk to see what they can achieve?

No parent wants to see their child stumble along in life. No parent wants to see their child fail. Much like a coach on a sports team, parents sometimes will watch their child go along in life and, having the advantage of watching from the sidelines, see the mistakes they are making and what consequences lie ahead. We want to rush in and guide them in the way they should do. The difficulty is letting your child go headlong into that mistake as they attempt to spread their wings and fly.

I, being a parent myself, have had a hugely difficult time with watching my kids experience life for themselves with all the mistakes included. I want to protect them. I want to rush in and head them off at the pass before they take another step to dive off of the cliffs of life.

To help make it easier on you and your children here are a couple of tips:

1.Redefine Failure In our house we live by this motto, "If you learned something from it then you did not fail." As far as I am concerned there hasn't been a situation yet that you can't learn from. You can apply this motto to anything from riding a bike, to climbing a tree to auditioning for a part in a school play. Think about it, if your child knows that success is seen as gaining experience and helping them move towards their ultimate goal they will be more encouraged to try new things.

2.The Only Way to Fail is to Not Try Secondly, your child needs to know that they only way to fail at anything is to not try. They don't have to be the best; they just have to try their best. There is a big difference there. We have high expectations on our children. We all want our children to succeed, but what is your definition of success? If for you success means being the best and then when your child tries and doesn't measure up and you come down on them where is their motivation to try again, to be better, or worse to try anything new ever again. Encourage your child to do their best that is all they can do.
I have referenced it time and time again, the Disney movie, "Meet the Robinsons". That movie has a great message for everyone, regardless of age. This is, failing is another opportunity to succeed. Each time you "fail" you learned something, discovered something new. You now have the opportunity to take what you have learned and apply it towards what you want to achieve. There is a seen in that movie, where they are sitting down to dinner and they celebrate the day's "failures" and what they learned from each situation.

3.Share with Your Child/Children Another tip is to share with your children times where you have failed, and what you did to overcome that failure or what you learned from that failure. Depending on the age of your child it can be an eye opening time for them. Younger children like to think that their parents are these incredible beings that can leap tall buildings and take on every bad guy in the world. So hearing that you have not always been able to "beat every monster" you have come up against but that you never gave up, you did your best and tried again will help them see that they can try to.
Remember You Were a Child Once
You were once their age, no matter how long ago that was try to think back to how you felt at that age. For as wonderful as childhood is, it also has its far share of stresses and demands. Don't put adult expectations on them.

4.Finally, Don't Live Through Your Child You may not realize that this is a tip to help them overcome fear of failure, but sometimes trying to be mom or dad is exactly what our children do. So, if they don't believe that they can do something as good as mom or dad would do it, they won't do it so that they don't disappoint you. Encourage them to try, you never know, they may do it better then you.

These are lessons that they need to learn on their own. No matter how difficult it is to watch. I have been learning to accept this both as a dad and a life coach. While I wish every bit of wisdom I give to my children is heeded and taken to heart, I know that it is in their mistakes and failures that they will eventually get the point. I also remind myself that I did/do not always take heed to wisdom given to me the first time it is given. At the same time, nagging a child with wisdom can actually harm your relationship more than helping them to gain any ground.
So, I can --and will-- be there for them when they fall and/or call for help. Even if they don't ask for help in time of need, I can still support them just by letting them know I am there if they need me. In all of this I cannot chastise

INPIRATIONAL WORDS FROM THE BIBLE
We All Fall Down
Everybody fails from time to time. No one you know is perfect, and almost everyone can outline at least a few failures. God understands and prepares us for it in Proverbs 24:16. We are not perfect, even in our faith, and God wants us to understand and accept that.
Proverbs 24:16 - "Even if good people fall seven times, they will get back up. But when trouble strikes the wicked, that's the end of them." (CEV)
God Lifts Us Back Up
God knows we're going to fail every once in a while. Yet, He also stands by us and helps us get back on our feet. Is it easy to accept failure? No. Can it make us depressed and feel down? Yes. Yet, God is there to help us work through our anger and disappointment.
Psalm 40:2-3 - "and pulled me from a lonely pit full of mud and mire. You let me stand on a rock with my feet firm, and you gave me a new song, a song of praise to you. Many will see this, and they will honor and trust you, the LORD God." (CEV)
God Wants Us to Correct Ourselves
So, God helps us back up, but does that mean we dwell on the failure or repeat the same behaviors? No. God wants us to acknowledge our shortcomings and work to better ourselves. Sometimes that means moving on to something else we can do better. Sometimes it means giving ourselves more practice. Other times it means being patient for things to work themselves out.
Jeremiah 8:4-5 - "The LORD said: People of Jerusalem, when you stumble and fall, you get back up, and if you take a wrong road, you turn around and go back. So why do you refuse to come back to me? Why do you hold so tightly to your false gods?" (CEV

TRUE HAPPINESS ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE

The Secret of What Brings True Happiness
One day, one friend asked another, "How is it that you are always so happy? You have so much energy, and you never seem to get down." With her eyes smiling, she said, "I know the Secret!" "What secret is that?" To which she replied, "I'll tell you all about it, but you have to promise to share the Secret with others."
"The Secret is this: I have learned there is little I can do in my life that will make me truly happy. I must depend on God to make me happy and to meet my needs. When a need arises in my life, I have to trust God to supply according to His riches. I have learned, most of the time I don't need half of what I think I do. He has never let me down. Since I learned that Secret, I am happy."
Everyone wants to be joyful. Many people spend large sums of money in the search for elusive joy and happiness.
What gives a person real joy? Money? Good health? Lots of friends? Beauty? A good figure? Power? Influence? You may have heard someone say, "Oh, if I could only have a million dollars, I would be the happiest person in the world!"
In the Bible the psalmist said that being with Jesus filled him with complete joy. "...In Your presence is fullness of joy;..." (Psalm 16:11). Jesus is the One who imparts the Holy Spirit, and when we have the Spirit of God we have the gift of joy. (See Galatians 5:22.)
Are you aware of the fact that Jesus wants to give you the gift of joy? No matter what is happening in your life presently, He is offering you joy to the fullest. Maybe you have lost all your possessions in some natural disaster, or perhaps your family is breaking up. Or maybe you have lost your job and thereby all means of support is cut off. Whatever the circumstance, you can still have the joy of His presence at all times. And when you have Jesus, you have everything.
The apostle Paul endured hardships and trials of every sort, but still he could positively say, "...I am exceedingly joyful in all our tribulations" (2 Corinthians 7:4). Such joy and peace comes to us because we completely trust the One who is in control of all the circumstances of life, and He has promised to supply all of our needs.

Now you know it too! We can't depend on people to make us happy. Only God in His infinite wisdom can do that. Trust Him!
There is no key to happiness--the door is always open!

REVELATION 3:5
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels

Maging tapat sa inyong pamilya. Sa puntong sekswal, maging tapat sa kapareha. Bawasan ang mga aktibidad sa labas at gumugol ng mas maraming oras sa piling ng iyong pamilya;

GodBless to all Family

Bakit may ganoong kakulangan?

(Mateo 7:8)

MARRIAGE ROLE OF WIFE & HUSBAND ACCORDING TO BIBLE

Marriage according to the Bible

The bible is what me and my wife has tried to keep close to our hearts and in our marriage. We used to try to follow the ways of both of our families. It didn't work because they never had God close to their hearts. We found that by following the rules of the bible keeps our relationship alive and healthy. We are happier and our children are to.

Proverbs 31 is a strong story of a mother telling her son what a relationship should be. It is one of my favorite verses but there are a lot of verses in the bible that tells a man and a women how a relationship should be. In Proverbs 31 verse 10 starts the story of what a true marriage of love should be. It states that finding a women who is Godly and good is far more valuable than any money or anything of value. The husband should be able to trust his wife in every aspect of life. And vice versa. The wife should help her husband to do good in life and encourage good in everything they do. A wife should be willing to work to help the husband by taking care of the house, kids and other things. Its not saying that you should stay bare foot and pregnant in the house and wait on your husband hand and foot. But a man shouldn't have to worry about everything. His job is to make sure you are provided for. A women should be willing out of love to help ease the stress and all the weight off his shoulder by offering her hands to work and to take care of the family. A great women also has a fear of God which is the best quality you can have. It says in verse 30 of Proverbs 31 that favour is deceitful and beauty is vain.

The bible also says what a man should do for a women when they get married. I think these verses are strong and very informative. I like Genesis 2:23. God made women out of a rib from Adams body. The women is part of the man and when they are married they become a whole. Both were created to be equal. And that's the way a marriage should be.

Genesis 2:24 is a good verse. It says that a man will leave his father and his mother and be united to his wife and they will become one. Another example of how both parties are created equal. God loves all of us the same. He doesn't love one one way and one another. And he wants the same from us. Marriage is sacrificed and it should be treated that way. God had you and your mate meet for a reason. HE knows everything that is going to happen. He has plans for everything. It took me and my husband a while but once we realized God was in control then things turned around for us.

The Role Of The Woman
1 Titus 2:3-5 said "Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God."

The woman is to be home oriented. As I have said, this is not a minor role. This is THE major role. Paul said the woman to build home and the man provide for the home through the participation of the marketplace.

In today's society though, the home is viewed very lowly. It is viewed as a place to sleep and eat so you can go back to the marketplace. Caring for a home is hard work, just as hard as going to the office, and satisfying, just as satisfying as being promoted.

A woman is by nature caring. Look at jobs that require high amount care, like nurses and counselors, isn't the majority women? Women just care more than man. They are more sensitive and more capable of love.

This is because women are made to be men's helpers. Genesis 2:20-22 said, "So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field. But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, He took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then God made a woman from the rib He had taken out of the man, and He brought her to the man." Helpers is again not a diminishing role. The Holy Spirit is described in the bible as our helper.

"Modern" women is always thinking, why should I be helper? I want to be the leader or equal. I want to be independent. This is a distorted view. Helper and leader is equal but different. The leader needs the helper and so does the helper need the leader. Women think this way today because we were taught pride is the highest virtue. Your self-esteem is the most important thing in the world. But the bible preaches humility is the highest virtue and love is the most important thing in the world.

A man NEED his wife to be dependent on him. It is very important for a man to feel important. This has nothing to do with self-esteem. This is him. Just like a woman need his husband to love her. That is her. We are all made to be dependent on each other and as a community.
The Man's Role
Ephesians 5:22-24 said, "Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything"

But also, Ephesians 5:25-28 said, "Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave him himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with the water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkles or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself."

Man's role is undoubtedly the leader of the house. But we are not taught this, because it is politically incorrect. We were instead taught a distorted sense of equality. Have you heard of the 50/50 rule where the husband will do the chores for a day and the wife on another? Has man ever cared enough to clean? Even when he does clean, how clean is it? Has a man cared enough to take out the rubbish? No! Because men are not made like that.

Man is the spiritual leader of the house. In the old testament, when a woman commits adultery or sexual immorality, she is brought to her father's steps and stoned. Why the father's steps? Because she is his responsibility.

The man is also to go out to the marketplace and provide his family for "If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever." 1 Timothy 5:8

Continuing, 1 Timothy 5:14 said, "So I counsel younger widows to marry to have children, to manage their homes and to give the enemy no opportunity for slander."

Man is the disciplinarian of the house. Ephesians 6:4 wrote, "Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord."

  • Maganda ang tulog (no nightmares)
  • Magana sa pagkain
  • Healthy physical growth
  • Nakakapag-laro
  • Magandang Relasyon sa Dios at simbahan
In terms of long term effects, mas well-adjusted ang ating mga anak emotionally at nagkakaroon sila ng healthy at positibong pananaw sa buhay (pera, friendship at work).

Gods Greatest Gift to me is my Family

God's greatest gift to me is the absolutely amazing family. I am very blessed to have such close relationships with my parents, brothers and sisters and even my extended family (though not as close). Unfortunately, I have not seen as much of my extended family lately. Not as much as I used to. And of course every family has their conflicts, including mine. Whether I am just noticing the conflicts more now that I'm older or ther is just more of them, I don't know. I do know that I don't like it at all. Plus, some people in my family are going through a lot right now both physically and emotionally.
A lot is going on in my family right now, good and bad. But no matter what happens, my family is there when I need them. I take all the hardships as ways God is using to strengthen my relationships with them. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my family and wouldn't trade my life for anything. God has blessed me greatly and i hope he does the same for all of you!
I apologize for this essay long comment, I guess I just had to get this all out of my head.

Everyday is a good Day according to the Bible

God is the creator of time. He created the sun and the moon so there would be day and night. The Bible also mentions months and years. Each day is 24 hours long. Assuming that you sleep 8 hours every night, that leaves 16 hours for you to make a difference with.
This gift of today (and every day) from God is something that we can’t return to the store to get what we really want, or regift it to someone else. It is ours alone, and it is our choice as to what to do with it. So now that we realize that this day is a gift from God, what will you do with it? Will you spend the day helping others? Will you spend the day working? Instead of wasting the day doing nothing, you could help spread the Gospel. Or you could spend quality time with your family. The choice is yours.
Only God Himself determines how many days we will live. Someday, your days on Earth will be over and God will come to call you home. When that happens, will you have made the most of the days He has given you? When you see God, what will you tell Him about how you spent the days that He gave you

Praying at Other Times

Praying at Other Times
There are many other times or occasions when we can develop the habit of praying together. These examples might inspire our own creative or spontaneous prayer.
In the Morning:
It can be quite transformative of our family bonds, in faith, to pause very briefly to pray together. This might be a spontaneous prayer, while we are laying in bed with our spouse, Lord, be with us today, or Dear, I ask the Lord to give you strength and peace today at your meeting. Perhaps we are rushing around each other in the kitchen, grabbing breakfast. It can be wonderful to pause to pray, simply asking the Lord to be with each of us in what we are about to do.
In the Car:
So many of us spend a fair amount of time in the car, often with other members of our family. These can be nice times to begin or end the trip, with a very brief prayer. Bless our shopping tonight. Help us be grateful for the gifts you give us. May this food/these clothes help us be mindful of those who have so much less than we do. Or, Bless Ann at practice today. Give her gratitude and delight in the gifts you give her. Help her to do her best, to encourage others, and to learn what you offer her today. Or, Lord, as we go to Bill and Ann's for dinner, we thank you for our friendship with them, and we ask you to bless this night with all the graces you might offer us in the care we have for one another; we ask this in Jesus' name. Or, Lord, as we drive to church, we thank you for our faith and for this chance to be together with our parish community; please allow us to hear your Word, to give you thanks and praise, and to be nourished for the mission you give us this week.
Over the Weekend:
Often the weekend offers some special moments together that can be wonderful times of prayer.
Other Times:
We can say brief prayers like this at so many special times. It can be very important to pray together, while cleaning up, in preparation for guests coming for dinner, or an overnight slumber party. We might share the responsibility for "designing" the family prayer for special occasions: Birthdays, Anniversaries, the beginning and ending of a school year, when one of us is beginning any new endeavor. We may want to add some special prayer time if one of us is experiencing a personally anxious time or crisis. For example, if one of us has to wait for an appointment for a biopsy, and then wait for the results, we might place a special candle on our dining room table, and light it each evening as we remember that person in our prayer.
Simple Rituals:
It can be so easy to add gestures that bring powerful prayer to our family life. One of the simplest and most natural is to trace a cross on a loved one's forehead. It can speak volumes to a young child, if his or her parents were to give them this gesture of love and prayer. This ritual can be done everyday, when we part for the day, or at bed time, or it can be reserved for special prayers of blessing before a big event. And, it can be a powerful, faith-filled ritual for a husband and wife, as part of an every day pattern, or at times of great intimacy, to touch each other in blessing.
Any of the "symbols" that we refer to in our page, "Symbols in Our Home" can be a source of family ritual. Perhaps we have our own family gesture or ritual that speaks of our faith or draws us into prayer.
Praying for Each Other:
The most important part of family prayer is perhaps the easiest to overlook - how we hold each other up to the Lord. Even when we are not physically together, as a praying family, we want to pray for each other. In reality this means that I have a pattern of talking with the Lord about the people I love most dearly, each and every day. They become part of my very relationship with God. Whether we are a married couple with young children, or I am a single parent, or if my children have grown up and begun lives of their own, this aspect of family prayer is so important. My spouse and I may not share our faith; perhaps my spouse doesn't pray at all; but I can talk with the Lord about my spouse every day - sometimes asking for help, sometimes just expressing my gratitude, sometimes begging for the gift of faith for my spouse.
May our Lord bless our praying, in the community of our family,
GODBLESS TO ALL….

Family Prayer

Family Prayer

One of the real challenges that we too often find in our contemporary, busy lives is finding time to be together as a family.  It is especially difficult to find opportunities to pray together.  And, if prayer, other than going to church on Sunday, hasn't been a family tradition, it can seem very "unnatural" to introduce it as something we might do together as family.   Here are a few possibilities - call them dreams - for ways we might pray as a family, during Lent, or at any time of the year.

Prayer Before Meals

One of the most natural times to pray, is as we sit down to eat.  We can begin, or "break the ice," by simply saying, Let's pray or Let's just pause for a minute to give thanks.  One of the challenges of doing this prayer well, is that we don't want our food to get cold.  This leads us to do the prayer quickly.  Brief prayer doesn't have to be without substance or power.  And, it doesn't always have to be after the food is on the table.  For a change of pattern, we could gather everyone to the table for prayer, and then bring the food to the table.

HOW TO OVERCOME FEAR AND ANXIETY

HOW TO OVERCOME FEAR AND ANXIETY
Fear is a reality of life. It is true for believers and anyone else. However, those who are grounded in faith and spirituality, find that they have God to lean back on when the going gets tough.
We don't have to let fear defeat us. We can triumph over it and feel safe
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
(2 Timothy 1:7)

Building a Sense of Confidence

The faith can help us overcome fear. We can't expect God to protect us from every evil of the world during this life. But we can have utter confidence that we are, indeed, loved by God, and that, ultimately, we will be redeemed.
We can take solace in knowing that we are loved by God. That knowledge should provide us with reassurance.
Many theologians believe that fear is a form of suffering. The key is to accept it for what it is and not to indulge it. Think less of what may come to us and our loved ones and more of who God is and what God wants. Then we turn ourselves over to the love and the care of God.

God has promised us eternal peace. Do not be afraid.

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" (John 14:27).
The way to find and keep peace is outlined for us by the Prophet Isaiah: "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee" (Isa. 26:3). We find God's will (and His peace) by staying grounded in our spirituality, where we find His will for our lives.
One of the most peaceful thoughts in the entire world was written by the Apostle Paul: "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose" (Rom. 8:28). If we truly believe this promise and appropriate it for our daily living, we will know complete and abiding peace. The divine promise remains true: "The Lord will bless his people with peace" (Ps. 29:11).
